A Taste of Trujillo! May 2022

Praise the Lord for all His blessings at the Mission of Truth and Life! Once again our mission remains true to our name as we continue to equip teenage girls with the fundamental Truth of the Bible and practical skills for Life!

Our beautiful 2022 class in residence at the Mission of Truth and Life training center in Trujillo! Second-year students are seated in front, with the first-years standing behind. All have made their own uniform skirts with

inverted pleats and pockets!

Over the two years, the girls learn pattern-making, cutting, and sewing on treadle sewing machines, which they eventually receive as gifts when they graduate.

Students develop such self-confidence as they master new skills. We start with chefs' hats and aprons; then they make several styles of skirts, blouses, and dresses, plus pants, purses and bags, and special occasion items they can sell in their villages.

Ours is a comprehensive program that equips these young women with the ability to earn income, help their families, and further their dreams.

This year some of our second-years took the initiative to start their entrepreneurship project early! Right before Easter, they approached a local restaurant owner about buying aprons. He ordered 16!

The teens worked day and night in their free time to finish the aprons in time for the holidays.

Their client was very pleased, and the girls made an excellent profit from their efforts!

Besides learning entrepreneurship skills, the girls have many opportunities to learn teamwork and develop leadership. They work in groups taking turns doing the cleaning at the Centre and making most of the meals.

This was a test in Cooking class where students worked in groups to practice recipes they'd learned,

including chicken fingers and fries, shepherd's pie, and pork chops in two different sauces.

We had a smorgasbord that day - and everything was delicious!

My greatest delight is to see our students grow in their relationships with God. This year a number have made first-time decisions to dedicate their lives to Jesus! Some have received emotional healing from deep-buried traumas, and another was set free from involvement in witchcraft.

As the girls receive healing, we see their minds open more, and they are able to learn and remember

more of God's word and other class material as well! At one service as the girls danced before the Lord,

one exclaimed joyfully it's like she has electricity in her feet!

Sadly, not all of our students are thriving. Some are battling temptation, suffering from abuse, struggling with peer pressure, and dealing with teenage hormones. Some do not have strong family support, and all of them need our prayers. Our teachers and staff all carry heavy loads and need to be uplifted as well. Will you please continue to remember us in prayer?

We PRAY together and PLAY together too! Just this week we enjoyed a fun excursion to a new water park in Trujillo. Most of the girls would never have the opportunity to try something like this apart from the Ministry.

It will be a highlight of their time with us, and likely a life-long memory.

This ministry simply wouldn't be possible without the investment of hundreds of people who give and pray and come alongside us in practical ways. Every day in our devotions we thank God for you who support us with your love and prayers and finances. Together we are making a difference in the lives of our students, their families, and their communities too. May God multiply His blessings to you and yours!
